HL7 v2 is the messaging format you'll see in most hospital interface engines. Each line begins with a segment identifier (PID, OBR, OBX, ADT) followed by pipe-delimited fields. It's notoriously vendor-flavored — every implementation has quirks — but it's also the most battle-tested clinical interop standard.
